Playing right music A recent study was done in which French and German music were played on alternate days for two week in a grocery store in the United Kingdom. In store displays of both French or German wines accompanied the music being played. The study revealed that the playing of French music led to the French wine outselling the German wine.
When the German music was played, the German wine would indeed outsell the French wines. Customers were asked to fill out a questionnaire during the study. They indicated that they did not recall music being involved in their choice of wines. Music is an element that should be included in your store.
It can add dimension to your space and can enhance a mood that you have tired to create. You may even be able to think of a way that music can directly translate into sales.
